First Day of Pre-K!

This is Camryn's 3rd year of Preschool at North Oak Preschool!
Here is a pic of her last year...
And ONE YEAR LATER...
Today she had feedback from her teacher Ms. Lyla that said, "Camryn had an AWESOME first day!"
She loved it and is super excited for this upcoming school year with one of her best friends Lily Tice in her class.

Moving AGAIN!

Back to the old house we go!  We were VERY LUCKY to sell our current home which we LOVED very quickly (4 1/2 weeks to be exact).  A lot of people ask, "Why would you want to move from that great neighborhood (Carriage Hill Estates) and great house you just made your own?"  Well, the answer is simple.  The schools.  We really wanted to get more north so the kiddos could be in a better school area (STALEY, here we come!)
We have decided that because I am VERY picky, we are going to build a house!  YEA!  I really can't wait to do this.  I know it is going to be crazy, but I am going to do this once and make this house as energy efficient, family friendly and US as possible. :)  I am so ready to take this on.  We have found a great builder, Integrity Home Builders, a woman builder who is about 35 and full of excitement and understanding for the contemporary style that I like.  We have a lot hold in Estates of Willow Brooke (kinda neat it has my name in it) until we finalize some details.  Our lot is .73 acre, completely wooded, on a culd-e-sac and reminds me of the lot I grew up on.  I can't wait to start this phase and have our permanent HOME!  Here are some pictures of our "old" house so I never forget all of the heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears that were put into this house!

Brady's Room, a little sad because this is where he came home from the hospital:(

Our amazing master bathroom I will sure miss!

Camryn Reese's Room

The before and after of this kitchen is amazing...the only thing the same is the island counter top!

The great loft/playroom.

Bye 4504 NE 60th Terrace!
Here is a pic of our empty lot!  Funny thing is we are building about the exact same floor plan as our home on 60th Terrace.   We are still tweeking it but want a story and a half with a covered porch, maybe a hearth room, for sure a mud room (very important), and a loft again for the kids.  Hopefully we will finish the basement one day and maybe a pool when the kiddos get older:)

My First Blog

Meet the Nelsons!  I am Brooke, a 30-year-old mommy of two who enjoys love, life, family, work and friends.  I have a wonderful husband, Bruce, who I do have to say is the best daddy my kids could ask for.  That leads me to the kids...Camryn Reese, my little blue-eyed 4-year-old angel with blond curls and my strong-willed beautiful little boy Brady Rommel who is 18 months old.

I am starting this blog for myself to keep a journal of our family life which is so hard to find time to do.  I know this phase of my life is going to go fast and I know I will appreciate this in the future years when the kids are grown.

Here is a typical day in the Nelson house:  6:30 a.m...Wake up to Camryn nudging us saying that the remote won't work so she can't watch her Disney Jr. show...followed by Brady screaming, "Momma, Dadda" because she has woken him up from his sweet deep baby sleep.  Oh, how our days start!  I usually stumble into the kitchen and throw some coffee in the Keurig hoping it will pep me up for the day.

Bruce gets them settled as I get ready for work and rush out the door by 7:30.  He has the kids all day as he is running real estate errands, making phone calls, working with contractors, etc.  By 5:00 p.m. I am on my way home and we do the daily trade-off.  Bruce goes straight to work and I have the kids all night.  I throw something together for dinner and we do baths and bedtime.  Brady is an awesome sleeper.  All I have to do is read him his 3 favorite books:  Dinosaur Roar, Kisses, and Goodnight Moon and the kid just goes right in his crib and goes to bed.  It is my favorite time of the day, reading books to him while he loves on me, laughs and asks me to sing to him.  After my Brady time, then comes (what Cam calls) "girl time."  We sometimes make popcorn for our "girl time" and other times we color, watch Disney, paint our nails or fix each other's hair.  But I always know at the end of the night I am going to get time with my sweet little angels.

It is easy to focus on the hardships of life when you are always in a rush, stressing about your job, trying to keep up with your kids' needs and never having time for yourself.  BUT those little eyes that look up at you at the end of the night makes your entire being worth every bit of it.  Somehow you can always squeeze a little more love and energy out of yourself that you didn't think you had.

Well, that was therapeutic!
